Chapter 3: Encounters of the Sunny Kind

We had started seeing lots of wide, vast flower fields after about and hour of walking, just as Camila had said we would. With the sight of the brightly colored flowers and loads of Butterfree and Ledian that polinated them we got excited and started to walk faster.

Finally, after about 10 minutes of walking we reached the top of a small hill. I looked over the hill and gasped in deligth at what I saw. There was a small town, with a pokemon gym at the end of a long road, and all along the road were houses and small shops.

" We’re finally here guys. Rosara City, home of our first gym badge." I said as the slight wind picked up, blowing my hair and pichus ears in the direction it was going. We walked quickly down the hill and went to the pokemon center to eat lunch.

Chansey surved us pokemon food and sandwiches, which we ate quickly.

" I wonder what pokemon the gym leader will use." I thought aloud and Pichu and Larvatar nodded in agreement " But no matter what pokemon they use we’ll beat ‘em all!"

At that Pichu and Lavatar cheered for our victory.

" What makes you think you can beat Nona?" a boy said angerly, sunndenly walking up to our tabel.

" Nona? Oh is that the name of the Rosara gym leader?" I asked, since I hadn’t bothered to look up the gym leaders name in the ‘ Pokemon Gym Guide’.

" That’s right! So what makes you think you can beat a great trainer like her?" he asked, seeming very angry about my confidence.

" See kid, I don’t think I can beat her, I know I can!" I said, clenching my hands into fists and smirking confidently.

" Oh yeah? Well then you’ll have to beat me, I’ll show you how weak you really are!" he said, taking a pokeball off his belt and enlarging it.

" Okay then I’ll just have to proove you wrong! Come on guys, lets show this chump what were made of!" I said and Pichu and Larvatar nodded, determination shining in their eyes.

So we went outside to the front of the Pokemon Center, since Nurse Joy had told us there was no batteling in the center and stood about 6 yards away from eachother, then turned and faced eachother..

" How’s a two-on-two sound?" I asked.

" Sound fine with me, I only need two of my pokemon to beat yours!" he said " Okay then lets beat her and beat her good! Go, Bellsprout!"
He threw the pokeball and, in the usual flash of light, a small pokemon, its body resembling a flower stem, and its head a yellow bell shape.

" A Belsprout huh? It’s a grass type but it’s a poison type too, so the perfect match for it is Larvatar!" I called, sending Larvatar to the field, who growled at Bellsprout showing his small sharp teeth.

" Okay Belsprout, start off with a Vine Whip attack! Go!" the kid ordered and two vines came from its stem- whip like arms which grew enough to reach beond Larvatar, heading straight twoards it.

" Quick Larvatar! Dodge then Agility!" I called and Larvatar jumped the vines as they lashed out at it but ended up just hitting the ground below it. Larvatar landing hard on them and speeding twoards the Bellsprout, suddenly dissapearing and reappearing in a different place several times, getting closer and closer to the Bellsprout every time he reappeared.

" Good now use Heabutt!"

Larvatar them speared forward, kicking off with its muscular back legs, and slamming into the Bellsprouts mid section with its hard boney head. The Bellsprout seemed dazed as it stumbeled back, its vines wrigling limply on the ground as Bellsprout tried to break its daze. It shook its head vigurously, which snapped it out of of the daze, and glared angerly at Larvatar as it retracted its vines.

" Bellsprout, use Stockpile!" the kid ordered. Bellsprout suddenly froze and then glowed a soft purple, small purple orbs appearing and being drawn to it.

" Don’t get confused! Stand your ground!" I told Larvatar, as it looked slightly confused and the grass pokemons actions, and it stayed put, watching Bellsprout cautiously as more and more purple orbs got drawn into its body.

" Okay good! Now Spit Up!" the kid ordered and the Bellsprout stopped absoring purple orbs but the glow remained. It then closed its mouth and a lump traveled fast up its throat, as if it was about to be sick.

But then it opened its mouth and the thing that had been going up its throat was fired and was reveiled to be a large large ball of purple energy.

" Larvatar jump!" I oredered and Laravtar quickly jumped up and dodged the attack.

" Vine Whip!" the kid ordered and this time Larvatar couldn’t dodge the attack. Bellsprouts thick, green vines wrapped tightly around Larvatar’s entire body, all except his head and the very lower part of his legs.

It suddenly lashed its vines out, which threw the rock pokemon straight up in the air then started pulling it fast straight twoards the ground. It hit hard and cired out in pain as its stomach hit hard agaisnt the ground.

" Larvatar!" I cried as the Bellsprout unwrapped its vines from Laravatar’s body, leaving it limp on the ground, his eyes closed. But suddenly his eyes snapped open and he quickly stood, his strengh returning.

" Lar.." it said as it got up, only a few scuffs in the armoring on its stomach from the hit.

" That’s the spirit! Sandstorm!" I called and Larvatar spun around fast on one foot, kicking up a mini tornado of sand and dust into the air, hiding its position and blinding Bellsprout.

" Where is it?" the kid asked, anxiously searching for the hidden Pokemon " Bellsprout, use Vine Whip and find that pokemon!" he ordered and Bellsprout sent its vines into the sand cloud.

" Thanks for the help! Larvatar grab onto the vines!" I ordered and Bellsprouts vines were suddenly pulled tight. It sturggeled to get loose but couldn’t escape from Larvatars grip on its vines.

" Good, now Horn Attack!" I called and three, silver blades of energy cut through the cloud, hitting the Bellsprout directly in three separate places on its vine like body.

Larvatar released its vines as it fell back, knocked out, and the sand cloud started to clear.

" Awsome job Larvatar, we won!" I said and Larvatar ran to me as I picked it up and hugged it.

" Luck shot! Return Bellsprout." The kid said, recalling the Bellsprout and taking out another pokeball and he put the one he’d just used back and threw the new one with a cry of " Go Skipbloom!"

A small green pokemon, with small limbs, yellow eyes and a large yellow flower on its head that spun as it floated in the air came from the flash.

" Okay then go Pichu!" I called and Pichu stepped forward.

" How about I start off huh? Pichu try a Thundershock!" I called and Pichus small pink cheecks sparked with electricity as it powered up for the attack.

" Skipbloom, stop it with Sleep Powder!" the boy ordered and light blue powder came from the pit of the flower on its head, wafting twoards Pichu.

" Pichu, quick! Dodge then use Thundershock!" I called and Pichu barley jumped the cloud of blue powder and squeezed its body up, releasing the built up electricity.

The volt headed twoards Skipbloom and it hit it directly. But instead of crying out in pain it took the attack, not even flinching in the least.

" What?! But Flying type pokemon are weak against electric attacks! And it was a direct hit!" I cried, confused as much as Pichu was. I knew for a fact that my information was correct, so why didn’t this Spikbloom go down?

" I’ve built up my Skipblooms defence against electric types, so it’ll take a lot more then that to beat us! Skipbloom, use Hyperbeam!" the kid ordered. Small orange particals of energy started to collect in the Skipblooms open mouth.

Suddenly the ball of orange energy shot out of its mouth and hit Pichu directly, the small electirc mouse having no time to dodge with the suddeness of the attack.

" Pichu! Are you okay?" I asked as it fell to the ground, having been knocked back a few meters.

" Pi…." I growled, nodding as it got up on shaky legs.

" Okay Pichu try a Tackel!" I ordered and Pichu ran at Skipbloom. But suddenly its cheecks sparked and a ball of electricty formed around it, increasing its speed.

" What? A Volt Tackel?" the kid cried out in surprise as the attack hit Skipbloom full force, knocking it the the ground.

" Good!" I praised pichu as it retruned to its original spot before the Hyper Beam attack by the grass/ flying pokemon.

" Skipbloom! Don’t let that louzy attack beat us!" the kid urged as Skipbloom tiredly floated into the air, but the fighting spirit burning in its small eyes.

" Skipbloom use Synthesis!" the kid oredered and Skipbloom glowed green, a small amount of its energy quickly retunring.

" Good now Frenzy Plant!" the kid ordered. The Skipbloom suddenly got ingulfed in green light, then the light got fured in a gigantic blast at Pichu, Skipbloom flying twoards my pokemon like a commet.

" Pichu! Quick Attack to dodge!" I called and Pichu rushed to one side, dodging the attack halfway.

Skipblooms blast blew up in its face, sending it flying back but it stiull managed to float an inch off the ground.

" Pichu now use Thundershock!" I ordered and Pichus electric shock hit it directly knocking it out, and us winning the match.

" Yeah we one! That was fantasic Pichu!" I called happily as I picked the tired pokemon off the ground.

" Fine, your good, but you’ll never beat Nona!" the kid said, running off with the injured Skipbloom.

" What was up with him?" I asked.

" Piiiiii." Pichu said as the boy walked away angry.

" Lar Lavatar!" Larvatar said.

" Yeah well we beat him good didin’t we?" I asked and the pokemon agreed happily.

" So we’ll take on the gym first thing tomorrow." I said to Pichu as we got ready for bed that night. He nodded his head as he setteled down next to me on the pillow and Larvatar slept in his pokeball, which I had on my belt that sat on the tabel.

" And then we’ll win our first badge and take the first step into the Destinty Triangle, the to Ultima city." I said, refering to the ‘ Destiny Triangle’, a cluster of three citys set in a triangle shape. It help Furon city, the ninth badge needed for the Crohne Pokemon Leauge, Dragona, the city that held the ninth badge for the Lohen Pokemon Leauge and finally Ultima City, the final step in become a champion. Ultima city was were it all came together, trainers from both the reigons came to battel their hardest against eachother, hoping to win the Ultima Cup.

Pichu nodded as he lay down on the pillow beside my head and lay his tail over his nose as he sruched up in a ball and lay his ears flat. I smiled and petted the top of his small yellow head as he fell asleep. I soon rolled over onto my left side and did the same.
